TOYO TYRES – AN INNOVATIVE COMPANY

Toyo Tyres has been known worldwide for more than 75 years, including more than 40 years in Europe. Toyo Tyres ‘ core values are continuous innovation, quality at every stage of production, excellent tyre performance and professional customer service. Together with its subsidiaries and partners, Toyo puts these values into practice on almost every continent. The company’s extensive network covers Europe, Asia, North and South America as well as the Middle East and Oceania.

Toyo Tyres was founded in Japan, long known as a powerhouse of technology and innovation. The company was founded in 1945, which doesn’t seem that long ago compared to some European tyre manufacturers, but its innovative approach has established it as an industry leader. Toyo Tyres introduced itself under the name “Toyo Tire & Rubber Co” and produced a variety of rubber-based products. The first car tyres saw the light of day in 1961.

tOYO TYRES – A GLIMPSE INTO HISTORY

As early as 1949, the company’s shares were listed on the Osaka Stock Exchange. In the years that followed, development did not stop for a moment, new and new factories were built and the first production sites abroad were established. Toyo Tyres was the first Japanese manufacturer to start production in the USA in 1966, thus becoming a corporation. Initially, this subsidiary was just a small office in Southern California and the giant production plants were still a dream. It took 33 years for this branch to grow into a company called Nitto Tire North America, which is now responsible for the entire North American market.

Toyo tyres appeared in Europe in 1975 in Germany with the creation of Toyo Reifen GmbH, followed by Toyo Tyre UK in the UK in 1981 and Toyo Banden B.V in the Netherlands in 1989. In 2005, Toyo Tire Europe was created as Toyo’s European headquarters. The tasks of the subsidiary include establishing new cooperative relationships as well as strengthening existing ones. The European headquarters must also ensure that all quality standards are maintained and that new products are promoted in European countries. In Russia, a branch office appeared in 2008 and in 2014, Germany and Austria were added to the joint branch office.

TOYO TYRES – FROM EVERYDAY TO THE RACETRACK

Toyo Tyres has dozens of business alliances with other major manufacturers such as the legendary Italian Pirelli, the American Goodyear and Japan’s own Yokohama, among others. This exchange of experience has enabled Toyo to produce tyres of outstanding quality for almost every type of vehicle. Examples include the eco-friendly NanoEnergy line of summer tyres for passenger cars or the much-acclaimed Open Country line of tyres for SUVs and 4x4s. While the commercial car segment is also where the brand’s renowned quality is available, it is perhaps the wide range of sports car tyres that have made it the most popular, and from which the high-performance Proxes range of everyday and luxury car tyres was inspired.

Several models from the Open Country SUV and 4×4 lines have, with minor modifications, taken part in off-road motorsport. Several have also been successful, for example in the Dakar Rally, the Baja 1000, etc.

Toyo tyres have also been used with great success in various classes of speed racing, with the Proxes R888 and the renewed Proxes R888R, which are still used with great success in competition, being examples. The quality of Toyo products is also demonstrated by their participation in the Spa 24 Hours and VLN endurance races. The luxury cars have not been forgotten either, taking part in the UK Porsche Championship.

2020. in 2007, Toyo tyres have become the first choice of millions of drivers. Aside from standard cars, Toyo was quick to react to the surge in popularity of drift and streetracing cars born in 21st century Japan. Anyone with any familiarity with this extreme class, which has now achieved motorsport status, will know that top quality tyres are the key to success and survival in street racing. Incidentally, the company has gained such popularity not only because its products offer maximum handling and grip, but because Toyo tyres have worked hard to get street racing recognised and even legalised in places.

Fun fact: TOYO tyres have nothing to do with the giant of the car world, TOYOTA.

What are the customer reviews of Toyo tyres?

Toyo tyres have been recognised by tens of thousands of Latvians as their first choice. Toyo is classified in the mid-range segment, which is based more on its relatively affordable price, as its quality and performance are closer to the premium class. When customers buy tyres from this brand, they often hear phrases such as – proven value, Japanese products can be trusted and – better pay more, but drive safely.

What are the main factors that encourage drivers to choose Toyo tyres and then to buy them again?

To get answers to these questions, we looked at driver reviews on various Latvian forums and on the world’s best-known tyre test and review portal
TYREREVIEWS, as well as comparing different tyre tests conducted both in Latvian weather conditions and abroad. These are the main advantages of Toyo tyres:

  1. Great mid-range tyres that are close to premium quality!

Conclusions

What can we conclude about Toyo tyres? First and foremost, they are tyres for people who know what they are looking for. If you are a modern-minded person who cares about what’s going on around you, Toyo tyres offers its own eco-friendly line. If you own a 4×4, like to go fishing or hunting, or live in a hard-to-reach area, then one of Toyo’s Open Country range could be perfect for you. If you are planning to take up or are already involved in a motorsport such as drifting or rallying, then one of the first tyre manufacturers to look at will be Toyo tyres, as they have a proven track record in a wide range of motorsports.

The products produced by this group are certainly not in the budget class. A lot of money goes into the tyre development process, which logically makes the tyre more expensive, but we have never heard of a tyre that is defective or poorly made. Despite this, the product is not overpriced and remains affordable for the average Latvian. Depending on the model, the tyres are quiet and offer convincing performance in all driving conditions.

Toyo tyres are quite widely available at both MMK Riepu Serviss centres in Riga. Mūkusalas 72D and Bikernieku 121K, call for a visit or best of all, come and visit !

Be a modern and confident driver – choose Toyo tyres!
