Kormoran tyres – made in Europe and designed for Europe

Europe has a wide range of climatic conditions. In the south of the continent, permanently heated roads are common, with 350 days a year without moisture. By contrast, the north of Europe, above the Arctic Circle, is permafrost. European tyre manufacturers therefore have the difficult task of creating a range of tyres that can cope with the harshest possible conditions in both summer and winter. With a specially developed tread design and a rubber compound that provides excellent grip and reduces rolling resistance, Kormoran tyres are the perfect solution for all seasons – whether it’s the hottest summer swelter or a bitter freeze.

Kormoran tyre products

Michelin has long been one of the world’s best-known tyre manufacturers. 225/55R18 Kormoran SUV Snow 102V - Vissezonas riepas / Ziemas riepasIt is known above all for the high performance, driving comfort and quality of its tyres, and it has given many of these qualities to its subsidiary, Kormoran. Although Kormoran tyres are available at up to 70% less than premium brands, they are no more than 7% behind in terms of performance. This is due to the brand’s factory location in Eastern Europe, where labour is much cheaper.

Kormoran tyres are particularly well known in the heavy vehicle and bus tyre sector, where quality standards in Europe are particularly high. This makes the company think independently about product development, as the tyre market is saturated with quality products. Concentrating production in Eastern Europe is an important step. It ensures that, although the tyres are of high quality, they are still cheaper than the well-known medium-high quality tyre products in Europe.

Kormoran tyre quality

Kormoran raises the bar for the mid-range when it comes to quality and performance for every type of vehicle. Kormoran tyres are produced as a cheaper alternative to the famous Michelin tyres, while maintaining the good qualities and reliability of Michelin tyres. Quality is the defining characteristic of Kormoran and is reflected in its high wear resistance. Excellent performance is another factor that characterises the brand. Kormoran tyres not only offer a smooth and even ride, they also save fuel in the long term. Often when you buy cheap tyres from an unknown manufacturer, after a season you find that the tyres already need to be replaced. MMK Tyre Service emphasises that when you choose Kormoran tyres, you can be sure that they will continue to perform to their full potential after more than one season. Kormoran tyres do not lose their properties and are resistant to hot road surfaces, low temperatures and wet roads. The brand offers all-season tyres as well as separate summer and winter models. It’s hard to make a decision when there are so many to choose from, but with Kormoran you’ll always have a great choice.

The history of Kormoran tyres

Kormoran tyres trace their origins back to 1935, when the factory where Kormoran tyres are now made began producing a variety of rubber products. As the automotive industry developed, the first tyre rolled off the factory assembly line in 1959, in the middle of the 20th century, and now, more than half a century later, it has won the hearts of millions of drivers and become an icon of the medium tyre class.

The Kormoran as we know it today is the result of several collaborations. The first collaboration was in 1974 with BFGoodrich, the tyre giant of the time, jointly creating some of the most striking tyre models of the time. Kormoran started to produce tyres independently in 1994, when, in cooperation with Stomil-Olsztyn, the production of tyres for commercial vehicles and passenger cars was launched.

1997. the year 2000 brought the brand new opportunities for cooperation with Michelin, one of the world’s largest and undoubtedly best-known tyre manufacturers. Ten years and more than a million tyres later, Michelin became the majority shareholder in Kormoran, ushering in a new era in the mid-range tyre segment. Today, Kormoran tyres adorn more than a million drivers’ vehicles and are available for passenger cars and SUVs, as well as commercial vehicles such as vans, trucks and buses.
