In this type of open-design tire, where the tread pattern consists of large, strategically placed blocks, most of the grip is provided not by the blocks themselves but by the sipes cut into them. In the central section, the sipes are arranged at an angle, which prevents side slip, and in the shoulder areas, they are perpendicular to the direction of travel, giving the tire good longitudinal traction and grip.
