The tread of this tyre is equipped with a directional pattern featuring an asymmetrical design. 3D modelling technology was used in the design of the tread, which involves the extensive use of computerised three-dimensional tools. By optimising the tyre design and the materials used, an ideal balancewas achieved between the characteristics that are important to the consumer and the realistic production possibilities.

The Cordiant WINTER DRIVE has no problems under either hard acceleration or hard braking. Such high performance was achieved thanks to the optimally chosen size, shape and positioning of the tread blocks. In addition, ZZ siping technology was used in the design of the tyre, which involves the use of many zigzag sipes that literally cover the entire tread. In addition, these sipes are arranged in different directions, providing excellent grip on slippery surfaces in all directions and in all conditions. As a result, when in contact with the road surface, the numerous tread blocks and zigzag sipes create a myriad of sharp traction edges that guarantee excellent traction and grip properties even in the most adverse conditions.

A special mention should also be made of the high efficiency of the Cordiant Winter Drive tyre drainage system, which easily copesnot only with the removal ofsnowfrom the contact patch, but also with water during the thaws that have become commonplace in modern urban winters. This was achieved thanks to a large number of tread blocks located at an optimum distance from each other. Their arrangement forms the tyre's drainage system, which consists of numerous longitudinal and transverse channels and grooves.

Another distinguishing feature of this model is the relatively low level of noise and vibration generated during movement. This characteristic, which is not typical of a winter tyre, is due to the different shapes and sizes of the tread blocks and their unevenly spaced arrangement!

The patented SMART-MIX technology was used to develop the rubber compound of the Cordiant Winter Drive tyre . This technology involves the incorporation of black carbon and silica based ingredients into the rubber compound. This resulted in significantly improved grip on slippery surfaces, as well as significantly increased wear resistance and tyre flexibility at low temperatures.

On top of all this, another technological innovation was introduced - Double Tread Technology, which means using a double layer of tread. The upper tread layer, which is the wear part, consists of the above-mentioned rubber compound. The lower layer is made of a special rubber characterised by minimal structural and elastic damage, which has led to a significant reduction in rolling resistance.

The Cordiant Winter Drive model's safety in winter weather and its compliance with countries with mandatory seasonal tyre changes is confirmed by a marking in the shape of a snowflake on a mountain background with three peaks (3PMSF).
