The Maxxis Wormdrive AT-980E summer tyre is designed for SUVs and pick-up trucks that are used by their owners on and off highway. The model is versatile, demonstrating high performance on any surface.
Maxxis Wormdrive AT-980E key features
- A versatile SUV and pickup model equally suited to highway and unpaved surfaces;
- Rubber compound that resists impact, cuts and abrasion;
- Frame with reinforced sidewalls for high on-road reliability.
Optimised tread design for any coating
The performance of tyres both on and off the highway is largely determined by the tread pattern features. Chief among these is the presence of a large number of blocks. They have a complex polygonal shape and are located at an angle to the direction of movement. The result is reliable grip on both asphalt and dirt surfaces. The blocks provide a point of contact with joint surfaces of considerable length and height. This allows the tyre to grip effectively to any surface. This off-road characteristic is further enhanced by the long spacing of the shoulder zone blocks, which operate in conditions such as full loops.
Special rubber compound
The compound was chosen based on the performance of SUVs and pick-ups on paved roads. Due to this, the tread is characterised by high rigidity and mechanical strength. This reduces the risk of tyre damage on the road and furthermore improves its resistance to wear.
Reinforced frame
The frame was also designed with tyre use in mind, particularly on the road. Its elements, which are most sensitive to mechanical stresses, have been considerably reinforced. Additional steel cords were added to the break and side walls. The latter, at the same time, have a rigidity which, by a large margin, provides protection against damage to both the tyres themselves and the car's suspension components
