Michelin Pilot Alpin 5
Description
The Michelin Pilot Alpin 5 is a premium all-season/winter tyre. Like all models in the Michelin Pilot range, it is designed for high-performance luxury cars. This tyre model excels in terms of grip, manoeuvrability and driving comfort, both in warm weather and in conditions where temperatures often hover around 0°C.
Michelin Pilot Alpin 5 key features:
+ Improved performance in snow and on wet asphalt thanks to a new directional tread design.
+ Increased road contact area improves grip and ensures more even wear.
+ Multiple sipes improve grip on icy road surfaces.
+ Pronounced acoustic and driving comfort.
+ High speed indexes.
+ Fuel economy.
Pilot Alpin 5 features
Michelin Pilot Alpin 5 feature a new directional tread design. The new tread design delivers improved performance in snow and on wet asphalt compared to its predecessor. The number of tread blocks has also been increased, which means more grip channels in the tyre contact patch, improving traction on icy road surfaces and snow.
Not only has the tread design been changed, but also its shape. The new concave shape provides a larger contact area with the road, improving grip and sustainability properties.
The V-shaped tread blocks are densely packed with several types of sipes. The sipes, like studs, are cut into ice and packed snow with sharp edges to improve grip.
Michelin Pilot Alpin 5 tyres are made from a new, improved rubber alloy. The chemical elements added to it help the tyres to remain flexible in low temperatures, as well as improving abrasion resistance and even dampening sound. It is worth mentioning that a flexible tyre grips the road much better.
