Firemax FM808 Scandinavian winter tyres feature a directional tread design or "needle". This design was chosen because it performs well on both wet asphalt and snow, improving manoeuvrability and reducing the risk of aquaplaning.

The massive V-shaped tread blocks are densely packed with thousands of tiny sipes or sipes. These act like studs, cutting sharply into packed snow and ice, significantly improving grip and safety.

A system of drains, or water channels, between the tread blocks effectively frees water and slush from the tyres' contact surface, reducing the risk of aquaplaning.
