Continental ContiVikingContact 5 Scandinavian or soft compound winter tyres feature an asymmetric tread pattern. This design was chosen to maintain excellent acoustic and ride comfort without sacrificing winter grip and manoeuvrability.

The asymmetric tread blocks are densely packed with thousands of tiny sipes or sipes. They cut into ice and packed snow with sharp edges, forming a firm grip on slippery surfaces.
