The massive, symmetrically arranged tread blocks are equipped with several thousand tiny sipes or sipes. Acting like studs, they help grip compacted snow and ice, cutting into slippery surfaces with sharp edges.

The tyre is based on a particularly strong carcass reinforced with several layers of breaker or cord reinforcement. This, in turn, is wrapped in a wear-resistant rubber alloy that does not lose its flexibility even at low temperatures.
