The tread blocks incorporate sipes which, in tandem with the tyre's advanced drainage channel system, dry the grip surface, removing excess water and snow. The sipes also improve safety on ice by cutting into the slippery surface with thousands of sharp grooves. The tyre is reinforced with several additional layers of cord or breaker, making it more impact-resistant. The tyre itself is made from a high-quality rubber compound. The aim is to make the tyre remain flexible over a wide temperature range and to make the tyre more abrasion resistant.
