The wide drainage grooves, positioned towards the centre at a certain angle of inclination, guarantee that the contact area is quickly cleared of melting snow and water. Specially arranged annular water evacuation channels increase control stability in wet conditions. The position of the serrated slats on the outer edges of the shoulder blocks increases the permeability of the model in deep snow. Riken winter tyre models feature a rubber compound with special elastomers and silica for extra grip in wet conditions and to help reduce rolling resistance, which directly affects fuel consumption.
