The Saetta Winter winter tyre features a directional style tread pattern. Several thousand sipes are densely packed into the V-shaped tread blocks, which cut into the ice with sharp edges replacing the studs, creating a firm grip on slippery surfaces. Between the tread blocks is a highly developed system of drainage channels which, in tandem with the aforementioned sipes, channel water and snow away from the contact surface, drying it out. A dry contact patch means much better grip. The tyre is made from a high-quality rubber compound enriched with a whole range of elastomers. The aim is to make the tyre remain flexible over a wide temperature range. This is very important in winter, because a flexible tyre grips the road much better.
