Michelin Pilot Sport EV main features
+ Two composite materials increase the range per battery charge, improve torque transfer and energy recovery.
+ Optimised tread profile reduces wear, improves grip and handling.
+ Asymmetric tread pattern provides balanced driving characteristics.
Pilot Sport EV features
Michelin Pilot Sport EV tyres are equipped with a tread made of two different rubber compounds with different characteristics. The shoulder areas use a composite with increased thermal conductivity, which reduces tyre heat build-up during prolonged high-speed driving, thus reducing rolling resistance and fuel/battery consumption. The central part of the tread is made of a stiffer composite, which allows better realisation of increased engine torque, improving energy recovery efficiency.
The tyre tread profile is optimised in a special way. Its shape is designed to increase the contact area, making it almost rectangular. This solution ensures a more even distribution of the car's weight on the road surface, which has a positive effect on both grip and handling, and also improves the wear resistance of this tyre model. Abrasion is significantly reduced, extending the tyre's service life.
The tread pattern is designed to be asymmetrical, which ensures balanced driving characteristics. Massive shoulder blocks increase steering precision and manoeuvring stability. The hard, longitudinal tread strands in the central part of the tyre ensure stable grip at high speeds, reduce rolling resistance and wear.
