Bridgestone Blizzak Ice’s Special Rubber Compound

The key to this model’s success is Bridgestone’s special MultiCell technology. A special porous compound has been added to the tire’s rubber compound, which, in tandem with drainage channels and sipes, dries the tire’s contact patch. What makes driving on icy roads dangerous is a thin layer of water on the ice. MultiCell technology literally absorbs the moisture trapped between the tire and the road surface, drying it out and allowing the tire’s tread elements to function effectively even on the slipperiest road surfaces. This has enabled this model to achieve a 10% shorter braking distance compared to the previous model . Improvements to the rubber compound have also made the tire more durable; it will last 22% longer than the previous model.
