W616 Specifications
The Hankook Winter i *cept IZ2 W616 , aScandinavian-style winter tire with a soft compound, features an aggressive directional tread pattern. This design was chosen to improve performance even in deep snow and slush. Meanwhile, the sharp side edges ensure excellent maneuverability even at high speeds.
The massive, symmetrically arranged tread blocks are “armed” with thousands of sipes. Acting much like studs, their sharp edges bite into ice and packed snow, creating a firm grip on slippery surfaces. In addition, the tire’s rubber compound is specially formulated to improve traction in harsh winter conditions. The elastomers added to it allow the tire to retain its flexibility even at very low temperatures. As is well known, a flexible tire provides much better traction on the road and wears more evenly.
